Mushaf Privacy Policy
App: Mushaf (Android package app.quran.mushaf) · Developer: Anas Khan · Last updated: 21 October 2026
Mushaf is a Quran reader. You don't need an account to use it, and we (the developer) don't run any server that collects your personal data. This policy explains what data the app handles and which third-party services it relies on.
Data we collect
We don't collect, store or sell any personal information. The app has no sign-up, no login and no analytics of its own.
Data stored on your device
- Settings and preferences, such as display and playback options, are saved locally on your device.
- Cached audio and text downloaded from the sources below are stored on your device so they play faster next time.
- Optional Fish Audio key: if you add your own Fish Audio API key and voice ID for cloud speech, they are stored only on your device and sent only to Fish Audio.
This data stays on your device. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app removes it.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
Mushaf shows banner ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and process information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and app information, and ad interactions. This is handled by Google under its own policies:
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before ads are personalised. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your device's settings: Settings → Google → Ads on Android.
Content services the app connects to
The app uses the internet to load Quran text, translations and recitation audio. These requests go directly from your device to the following services. They receive standard request information such as your IP address, but no personal data from us.
- Quran.com CDN (
api.qurancdn.com,audio.qurancdn.com): Quran text, translations, word-by-word data and recitation audio. - EveryAyah (
everyayah.com): translation audio. - Google Fonts: typefaces used in the app.
- Fish Audio (
api.fish.audio), only if you add your own key: the words to be spoken are sent to Fish Audio to generate speech. See Fish Audio's privacy policy.
On-device speech uses your phone's built-in text-to-speech engine.
Permissions
- Internet and network state: to download Quran text and audio and to show ads.
- Advertising ID: used by Google AdMob as described above.
The app doesn't access your contacts, camera, microphone, photos or precise location.
Children
Mushaf is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security
Connections to the services above use HTTPS. Because we don't hold your personal data, there is nothing of yours on our side to breach.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
